Students will meet two hours a week online in groups of 3 (either Tuesday afternoon from 12-2 or Tuesday evenings from 5-7).
Students will work together with Skype shared desktop and critique each others work and be critiqued by Rebecca.
Assignments go out one week prior to the first class date and students will have sketches ready at the first day of class.
Art can be created digitally of traditionally- but you will need a wacom and photoshop, and have a basic working knowledge of those things in order to fully benefit from the online classroom.
Critique will happen via video skype with Rebecca and with with digital draw overs in layers in phoo shop-either of a piece you have created in photoshop or a piece you have done traditionally and a picture/scanned and imported into photoshop for class critique.
Week 1 will be and intensive sketch critique -seriously breaking down what' working and whats not.
Week 2-progress on the finished will have started- we continue working together through the uncomfortable middle part or the image- the place where most people start to really get frustrated with a piece.
Week 3- hopefully you have implemented your week 2 information and have used it. We go through another round of critique and start focusing on the beautiful details- pushing to make the image really special. "The devil is in the details" and this is where the line most seriously gets drawn between a professional looking image and an ammetuer one.
Week 4- final critique wall-art gets posted on the IMC web site if all in class agree its ready to be seen.
Because the other side of the "business of art " is the actual "business" part, Rebecca will be bringing in special guest art directors/editors/agents/publishers for one big class critique every 2 months.
